I learned to read at a young age and found stories of all kinds absolutely fascinating - so much so that I wrote my first "novel" at the age of four. This story was about my grandmother and a pegasus, of all things, and was written on printer paper I cut in half. I've lost this "novel" since then, but the memory still serves as a testament to how long I've held the dream of becoming an author. During school my favorite class was always creative writing, and I quite enjoyed entertaining my classmates with the stories I wrote. Eventually I began reading fantasy and science-fiction novels when I started middle school, which propelled my imagination and prompted me to begin my first novel, The Key of Nixey when I was 13. Originally I wrote as a hobby, as a way to write the stories that I was craving to see since I was becoming very disenchanted with the books that already existed. But since then I've become quite addicted to story-crafting and the entire writing process. Writing has become one of the most therapeutic and interesting things to happen in my life - I just feel lucky that I stumbled upon it as early as I did! |
